Split: Between Stone and Sea
A photographic journey through Split, where ancient stone, Adriatic light and everyday life exist within the same frame.
Split is a city of contrasts. Ancient stone meets the Adriatic Sea, narrow streets open suddenly into bright squares, and centuries of history form the backdrop to ordinary daily life.
I lived in Split during the quieter months, from March until May. Before the intensity of summer arrived, the city revealed a more intimate character. Mornings moved slowly along the Riva, shadows stretched across the old walls, and the changing coastal light transformed familiar streets from one hour to the next.
What fascinated me most was the relationship between permanence and movement. The stone architecture appears immovable, while people, reflections and sunlight constantly reshape the scene around it. Through photography, I looked for the brief moments when these elements came together naturally.
This series is not intended as a traditional portrait of Split. It is a personal visual record of how the city felt: quiet yet alive, historic yet immediate, and always suspended somewhere between stone and sea.
